WORK AT CAMP

Work that Matters

Camp staff are those who go beyond to create a difference. We  believe in C.A.M.P. This camper first philosophy stands for Creating Amazing Moments and People. Many call it magic but to Winona staff the magic is what comes from our campers.

Those who work for camp have a life changing experience that leads them to future career success.

Training and Development

Safety

Something Special

Our staff all go through significant training. Our counselors do a minimum of two weeks of training prior to summer. These full days from sun up to bed prepare them for summer. They will cover everything from program safety to campfire songs.

Year-round our staff are attend camp conferences for the YMCA and ACA camps bringing home or providing best practices.

Camp is safety first! All staff are background screened by the state of Florida for all criminal history. Staff also must pass a 10 panel drug screen.

As an ACA accredited camp all staff must be trained before leading programs.

All staff receive minimum First Aid and CPR. Most will also receive lifeguard training.

Camp staff are something special. We sing songs, wear costumes, provide mentoring and comfort, keep children safe and clean up some gross messes.

Camp staff can put a feather in their cap and tell others they are just built different. Not just because of all the different responsibilities that they take on but when all is done they put others first.
